IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR VILLAGE RESIDENTS

The Village of Saugerties Police Department was abolished by public referendum on March 16, 2010. Effective 12/31/10, at 11:59 PM EST, this department will cease operations. As a result, the Town of Saugerties Police Department will take over all policing functions for the Village of Saugerties on 1/1/11 at 12:00 AM EST. Although there will be some initial changes during this transition, be assured that you will continue to receive police services in the same manner as you normally would. In fact, a number of officers from the Village Police will be transferring to the Town to create a new, unified Saugerties Police Department. Together, we will work to ensure that the general public, both Village and Town, continues to receive the level and quality of service that it has come to expect over the years.

Please be advised that the contact telephone numbers listed above are now the only numbers that should be utilized to reach the Saugerties Police Department. Our non-emergency business line, (845) 246-2080 will be deactivated on January 1, 2010, and should no longer be used. Also, all walk-in complaints should now be directed to the police station at 4 High Street. Police business will no longer be conducted at Village Hall, and the telephone in the former Village Police vestibule will be deactivated.

On behalf of all of the men of the Village of Saugerties Police Department, it has been our honor to serve you.
